Friends, Food, and Fathers

So, yesterday I met some friends on Arthur Avenue, the heart of the Little Italy of the Bronx.  There's nothing I can say in words that would be more descriptive than a few pictures.
And today is Father's Day.  Mine has been gone for almost 17 years, and I miss him and still think about him every day.  Here's two of my favorite shots, both taken before I was even born.
The first was taken in our backyard in Brooklyn, the second on the boardwalk in Rockaway Beach.
Happy Father's Day, Dad.
And Happy Father's Day to all you other dads out there.

  2. Eileen,
What a handsome man your father was. You do tend to favor him, especially his smile.
Your girls day out yesterday looks like a blast!!! I can just smell the smells of the bakery and sausage and cheese shops.

  9. Nice post and tribute to your father. I miss restaurants like the in which you dined. We have very few good ones here in Roanoke. When I lived in the Cleveland area, the ethnic food was to die for. Italian restaurants especially.
    Bon Appetito!

  10. Eileen, oh my everything looks so delicious, and you have me drooling here. :-)
Have you ever gone to Federal Hill, in Providence, RI? Great restuarants, small family run deli/pastry/stores. Fresh pasta's, any Italian. Yummy!!!!!
Glad you had a lovely luncheon with friends. I can see why you think those photos of your dad are special. He was very handsome. My dad is 91. I spent the afternoon with him.
    Thanks for sharing.

  11. Hi Eileen -

Ok thank you so much for making me jealous! I have not been to Arthur Avenue in years. Everything looked so good and you all looked like you had a fabulous time. Ok so tell me, how much wine did Pat have - LOL! Ah - nothing like good food and good friends to make a perfect day!!
Love the photos of your dad. I miss my father, it's been almost 11 years and still miss him. I guess we always will miss them, they held such large places in our hearts.

    Hugs,

    Elaine Allen
