Do Not Disturb

If you live alone you can go to your studio when you want, even if it happens to be the dinner hour  for the rest of your time zone.  I have been told, however, that spouses, offspring, roommates, and even pets, can sometimes find ways to interrupt the creative flow.  So, everyone who shares their space with other life forms needs a DO NOT DISTURB sign.  Not that small children or furry creatures will be able to read it, but maybe they can be trained to recognize and obey it.  I'm probably dreaming, but even if the sign doesn't work exactly as planned, at least it is a very decorative hanging on a hook or doorknob.

All of which leads me to this week's Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge.  What did Simon say?  Show us.........hands.  I immediately thought of Tim's hand stamp, which somehow led me to thinking about Wendy's queen stamp (which has nothing to do with hands), and that made me think about the iconic image of finger over lips.  How to marry the two stamps and manipulate those fingers?   This is what I did:

The base is a plain piece of grungeboard, first covered with white pigment ink, allowed to completely dry, then colored with distress stains (peeled paint, faded jeans and broken china).  The scallop border, in brown stazon,  is a Wendy Vecchi stamp.  The words were computer generated.  The little dangly on the bottom is a stamp I picked up in a scrapbook store and have no idea who makes it.

As for the hand.....I just stamped the back with Tim's number background stamp so that when I bent the fingers there would be something on the visible side besides blank space.  As for how I got those fingers to stay in place:

Claudine Hellmuth's matte multi medium  +  alligator clips  +  patience = permanently bent fingers.
