An Amazing Crafting Day

Today was one of those days that makes me so very thankful that I'm a New Yorker! I visited Bowne & Co., Stationer and Printer in the South Street Seaport. Robert, the printer runs free make-n-takes every Sunday from 11-5, and I was there with several of my crafting buddies. This is a wonderful little shop and Robert and his assistant Fe La are two of the most warm and generous people I've ever met. We made fabulous little accordian-fold albums, and Robert just kept giving us vintage papers, postcards, old wallpaper, and we had the use of all his crafting supplies. The shop itself is a wonder, full of the most beautiful artifacts, not to mention gorgeous stationery and vintage postcards, tags, and collage packs for sale. And although it is a part of the South Street Seaport Museum, Bowne & Co. is also a working print shop, using old-school letter press machinery. I will never forget this day, and plan to go back many many times in the future.

Waterfalls in NYC!

What a fabulous day! A while back a friend sent me an email about free Circle Line tickets to view the temporary waterfall installations dotting the East River. My friend Heidi and I applied for tickets, and yesterday we went with some other members of one of our Meetup groups. The weather was glorious, the waterfalls and other NY sights were awesome, and I think we all left happy and inspired.

Inspiration

My friend Carla posted a piece in her blog (http://cardsofnyc.blogspot.com/) about inspiration coming from so many places, expected and otherwise. I couldn't agree more. No pictures of cards or ATCs today. Instead, some of my recent trip to the beautiful island of Curacao. Here's some colorful inspiration!

Stampin' Up Convention

I'm back from Salt Lake City, site of Stampin' Up's 20th anniversary convention: Celebrate '08. I went with most of the members of my team, The Gotham City Stampers, and we had a blast! We met some great stampers from all over the US and Canada, had so much fun swapping cards, and were greatly inspired by the non stop classes, workshops, displays, demonstrations, and make-n-takes. Our team is more solid than ever, and rumor has it that a few totally awesome people will be joining us soon. Sign me up for Convention 2009!
