The 12 Tags of Christmas, Day 2

Tim doesn't disappoint.  Tag 2 is another beauty, with great techniques, including one that just about drove me crazy, but resulted in an awesome embellishment.  More about that pesky rose later.
First of all, remember to visit Tim's blog, if you haven't already, so you can see the step by step tutorial.  Here is Tim's tag:

Tim stamped and embossed the vintage frame with a color of distress embossing powder that I do not own.  In fact, the only distress embossing powder I have is black, so I went with that.  I really want to learn technique, not worry about having the exact colors.  I used one of the seasonal stamps I own for the sentiment inside the frame.  (If my frame seems smaller, I think it must be.  Tim was using a wood mounted stamp, and my frame stamp is on cling mount and is part of one of his sets.  I think it's a smaller version of the one he used.)
See that little metallic rose in the lower left?  I just had the worst time with that!  I couldn't get the petals to curl under nicely, and spent the longest time trying.  In the end, I couldn't even fit the final two petals in my rose, but still am OK with my result.  Will I be using this technique again?  Well, maybe, but no time soon, I'll say that.
Here is my tag:

If you click on it to see it larger, you'll understand what I'm talking about with that blasted rose.

My favorite technique in this tag?  After the stamping, embossing and coloring, we mixed some perfect pearls and water, loaded it onto a brush, and tapped droplets of it over the tag.  I'm not sure how well you can see them, but it is a very cool effect.  Now THAT is definitely a technique I'll be using in my art again and again.
Congratulations to all the lucky peeps who won in Tim's giveaway.  He promises at least 24 prizes for today.  So leave a comment on Tim's blog (after you leave one here.....I LOVE reading what you have to say) and maybe one of us will be amongst the fortunate 24.

I love your tag with the muted colors. And yes, the rose looks a little lop-sided but who cares. It's all about techniques like you say.
My icicles on yesterday's tag (I still have to upload it) looked more like snot :)

Wow! These tags are just beautiful...way to go! You have given Tim a run for his money! I think your version is just great and your roses turned out well. I wish I had some metal flowers but may try it without them. Diann

Thank you thank you thank you! Your adaptations of Tim's tags are wonderful. I was feeling terrible that I didn't have all the same materials as Tim so I didn't even give the tags a try - plus he uses 30+ steps which is scary for a newbie like me. You taught me how to look at the tags from a new perspective using things that I already have and love. I love your blog and learn from you daily. Cheers to you this holiday season! Love, Vicki B from Orchard Park, NY

Eileen your tag is fabulous! I haven't attempted day 2 yet, heck, I haven't even finished day 1 (maybe I went a little overboard trying to make 10 "day 1" tags of various sizes, lol) but you are an inspiration. It was after I saw your tag yesterday with Santa's imagine that got my imagination going, so THANK YOU.

this tag is great! The roses are impossible - I'm not sure why we need to do all this metal-working on a tag, but it does look great!
